Today, we discuss some accessories in the orchestral percussion section, specifically: finger cymbals, triangle, and castanets. There are many different techniques to play these instruments, and I am going to detail the ones that work for me.

Great explaination! Loved the section on the finger cymbals...it made me giggle! Although the title of the Lesson - Toys in the Orchestral Percussion - is a little misleading. I was expecting you to be grooving down with some Hot Wheels cars or maybe a rubber duck. lol Have you ever explored non-traditional "instruments" or "found sound"?

"Toys" are slang in the percussion world for these instruments :) But, the term 'non-traditional' is a little broad... and as you mention 'found sound' I assume you are referring to items such as the kitchen sink or random pieces of metal, etc? In reference to these types of instruments, there is nothing specific that I could talk about, but I could totally mention a bunch!!!!!!!
